In just a few years, La Rochambelle, a 5km women's walk/run in aid of the fight against cancer, has become one of Calvados's unmissable women's events. This emblematic event is fuelled by values and commitment, as € 7 of the registration fees go to charities involved in the fight against cancer.
Since 2006, the Rochambelle has collected more than €1 200,000 for the cause and become the second most popular women's race in France (in terms of numbers of runners).
For this new edition, the objective is to collect €98,000 in aid of the fight against cancer. A substantial sum only made possible thanks to the participation of 14,000 women.
The Rochambelle is also a tribute to the Rochambelles, the female nurses and ambulance drivers who belonged to General Leclerc's famous Second Armoured Division at the time of the Liberation. These courageous, committed women landed in Normandy to play a vital role in the recapture of Europe.
