5,000 participants expected at juno beach

Created in 1988 with the aim of paying tribute through sport to the events of D-Day, D-Day Landings Marathon is gearing up for a historic 2024 edition as part of the festivities for the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.

With over 25,000 participants each year, the event's race courses are a perfect illustration of this tribute to history through sport, making D-Day Landings Marathon a wonderful showcase for Normandy.

Often referred to as the "Marathon des Plages du Débarquement" (D-Day Beaches Marathon), the D-Day Landings Marathon event has been awarded the national FFA label and boasts one of the most beautiful courses in France. Proof of its international renown, the event is now one of the qualifying marathons for the Abbott World Marathon Majors age-group rankings.

During this race, the personal endeavour is coupled with the discovery of the high places of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy (Juno and Sword beaches, Ouistreham Casino, Pegasus Bridge, etc.), making this intense moment of sport a real tribute to History.

2 months before the big day, the organizing team announces the closing of registrations for the flagship event, the last to be fully booked just a few days after the 10km - Crédit Agricole Normandie and the Relay Marathon. The legendary distance is attracting an ever-increasing number of enthusiasts, and will bring together 5,000 participants in the Juno Beach area on Sunday June 2. This figure is close to equalling the event's previous record (5,600 participants for the 50th anniversary of D-Day in 1994).
