With 36 editions to its credit, the D-Day Landings Marathon is the premier event of the year over the legendary distance of 42.195 km. Often referred to as the "Marathon des Plages du Débarquement" (D-Day Beaches Marathon), the D-Day Landings Marathon event has been awarded the national FFA label and boasts one of the most beautiful courses in France. During this race, the personal endeavour is coupled with the discovery of the high places of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy (Juno and Sword beaches, Ouistreham Casino, Pegasus Bridge, etc.), making this intense moment of sport a real tribute to History.

 

D-Day Landings Marathon is gearing up for a historic 2024 edition as part of the festivities marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.

Registration fees

The registration fee for D-Day Landings Marathon is 69€.
Benefit from a special rate of 53€ if you register before January 31, 2024.

Students, jobseekers and people on RSA or ASS benefit from the opening rate of 53€ all year round. To take advantage of this offer, simply enter the advantage code dedicated to the event selection stage: ETUDIANT2024 (students) and COURIR2024 (jobseekers, people on RSA or ASS). Proof of status will be requested at registration.

Personalisation of bibs

Each participant is unique. Register before 1st may 2024 and receive a personalized bib on race day (first name/nickname, team name).

bib sent to your home
bib can be sent to your home by recorded delivery at a cost of €10.00. This option is available until May 1, 2024 for deliveries in mainland France only. bibs will be sent at the end of May to the address indicated on your online account, subject to your file being complete (valid proof of aptitude). 

Personalisation of the medal

Each participant in the D-Day Landings Marathon receives a medal at the finish line. The personalisation of this medal is offered for €8,00. After the event, you will receive a plaque to stick on your medal with your name and official time.

Time limits

The D-Day Landings Marathon is limited to 5.5 hours, with cut-off times at :
- 21st km in less than 2h40,
- 25th km in less than 3h15,
- 30th km in less than 3h55,
- 35th km in less than 4h30.

Proof of ability

Proof of ability (medical certificate or licence of French Athletics Federation) is required to participate in the D-Day Landings Marathon.

Please send us your medical certificate via your online account before Wednesday 29th May 2024. Download our medical certificate template by clicking here. If you are unable to send us a digital version of your medical certificate, please send it as soon as possible by post to the following address: D-Day Landings Marathon Registration Department, 12 rue de la Chapelle, 14000 CAEN.

Medical certificate

Participants must attach to their registration form a legible photocopy of their medical certificate attesting to the absence of contraindication to the practice of sport in competition, athletics in competition or running in competition dating less than one year on the day of the event.

Sports licence

Other documents can justify the possession of this medical certificate. The following is an exhaustive list:

- The following licences issued by the French Athletics Federation (FFA ) : Athlé Compétition, Athlé Entreprise, Athlé Running or Pass " J'aime Courir " valid on the day of the event.

- Sports licences valid on the date of the event, on which must appear the non-contraindication to the practice of sport in competition, athletics in competition or running in competition issued by one of the following federations: Fédération des clubs de la défense (FCD), Fédération française du sport adapté (FFSA), Fédération française handisport (FFH), Fédération sportive de la police nationale (FSPN), Fédération sportive des ASPTT, Fédération sportive et culturelle de France (FSCF), Fédération sportive et gymnique du travail (FSGT), Union française des oeuvres laïques d'éducation physique (UFOLEP)

Preferential bib

Benefit from a preferential bib upon presentation of proof of recent results. Send your request by e-mail to info@marathondelaliberte.fr before 1st may 2024.

Bibs withdrawal

If you are participating in a team, please contact your team leader directly to find out how to collect your bib.
If you have subscribed to the home delivery and if your registration is complete, you will receive your bib at the end of May at the address indicated at the time of your registration.
If you are registered as an individual, the following information concerns you.

bibs can be picked up on presentation of an ID card at the D-Day Landings Marathon Village Expo at the Parc des Expositions de Caen (rue Joseph Philippon):

BIB WITHDRAWAL = COMPLETE REGISTRATION + IDENTITY DOCUMENT + BIB NUMBER

Remember to bring your bib number with you to reduce your waiting time. You can find your bib number at any time from your online account, by clicking here.

For any bib collected by a third party, the person must present the identity document of the person for whom the bib is being collected (digital version preferred).

No pins will be given out, so please bring your own.

Access to the Caen Exhibition Centre and parking

Northern ring road: Exit n°6 (Vallée des jardins) - Southern ring road: Exit n°10 (Eterville)
You can then access the Exhibition Centre via the Zenith roundabout in Caen. Follow the signs to Louvigny. Access is also possible via the Cavée viaduct.

Departure airlock

Starting locks will be set up to facilitate the start. On the day of the race, please take position in the airlock corresponding to your time: elites and bibs preferential, -3h00, -3h30, -4h00, +4h00. The latter are freely accessible at the start of the races.

Changing rooms

A cloakroom truck will be present at the start site in Courseulles-sur-Mer to collect your belongings and bring them back to the finish site.

Refreshments stations

Refreshment points (water, bananas, oranges, sugar cubes and dried fruit) will be set up every 5 km.

A full meal will be offered at the finish line as well as a local buffet with Saveurs de Normandie allowing you to taste local specialities.

Arrival site

A friendly place for participants and supporters

The Hélitas Stadium in Caen will host the finish line of the event.
Invite your friends and family to join you. Fan areas will be dedicated to them in the immediate vicinity of the finish line.

Awards

A medal and a finisher's T-shirt with the event's logo will be given to you at the finish.

Recovery area

Physiotherapists and chiropodists will welcome you in the recovery area (runners' zone) to provide you with recovery treatments and massages.

Award ceremony

The awards ceremony will take place near the finish line at the Hélitas stadium in Caen on sunday 2nd june at 1:30pm.

Only the first 3 men and women runners (scratch and regional) will be called to the podium for the awards ceremony.
