D-Day beaches: the spirit of the D-Day Landings Marathon

On June 6, 1944, men from all over the world landed in Normandy to help reconquer and liberate Europe from Nazism. The Liberation began here, on beaches with code names that have become legendary: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword. It was in Normandy, more than 80 years ago, that the face of today's free world took shape.

With its route passing through the key sites of the Normandy landings, the D-Day Landings Marathon the indelible mark of this history. Each year, the event commemorates and pays tribute to those who gave their lives for peace and freedom. Carried by the emotion and fervor of the public, the heroes of the day, coming from 70 nations, run in the footsteps of the heroes of all time.
